it's official! I 'won' June Camp NaNo!

Yup, 55,871 words as of last night and I'm going to keep going because my job as a writer - the most important job of all - is to show up in my writing space.

That's the main reason I decided to participate in June Camp NaNo; to get back into the habit of writing EVERY SINGLE DAY. The fact that there was a wordcount goal to aim for added the motivation, and I'm very pleased that I have written over 2,000 words each eveing - almost 3,000 on a couple of occasions.

And I'm going to keep going. I may have 'won' June Camp NaNo, but I'm not going to stop writing now.

I've been thinking about two of the projects that I want to work on next. The first one is my gothic novella, Greenwood Manor 2 (working title), and the other one is the novel that got stalled. It's going through yet another reincarnation, but this one I am determined to finish!

June Camp NaNo isn't over yet, so I'm going to spend the next few nights not rebelling, but working on some outlines and pre-planning exercises to see how much I can get to grips with where these two stories are going to go.

Second week of Camp coming to an end

And I've reached the 35K mark. Woo Hoo!!

Badges I've earned to date include:

Goed Begonnen; Non-Stop; Speed Typing; Brat Camp; Swimming Lessons; Modern; Stamina; Half Gewonnen; Late at Night.

I've got my eye on a couple more and just need to tweak my writing habits (e.g. writing under a table some evening) to earn them. Great fun!

Seven badges - woo hoo!

I've added the "Modern" (for writing on something that runs on electricity) and "Stamina" (for writing at least 1667 words for 7 consecutive days) badges to my collection.

Seriously, this feels really good!

Five badges in total now!

I forgot the fourth one which was "Brat Camp" - being a NaNo rebel. (I'm not working on a novel this month.) And I've also got the "Swimming Lessons" badge for passing the 10K mark. Woo hoo!

Seriously. This badges lark is a great motivator. :)

Three badges on my first day!

One for writing a word at all (Goed Begonnen), one for writing non stop for an hour (Non-Stop) and one for writing 2000 words in an hour (Speed Typing) - I had 2,596 words at the end of the hour.

I have to say that getting to earn badges for reaching small milestones on the way to 50,000 words makes it all the more motivating. Because I got off to a good start and got rewarded for it, I feel good. And that feel-good factor is what will bring me back to my writing desk and laptop tomorrow evening. :)

So, my thanks to Angrykittykj, WhiteDove and Mayasennara for all their hard work in creating a badge list, designing the badges and creating the blog, and for creating an alternate design for the badges (including the border) and for sharing it with all of us. Many, many thanks!

Now, what badge can I aim for tomorrow night???
